The onslaught of mobile phones is pushing the landline phones to extinction, but to remain alive, landline phones are coming up with new features, so as to hold a chance against the feature rich cellphones. The VTech DS6321-3 cordless phone is one such landline phone that is trying to mimick mobile phones in a bid to stand a fighting chance.
The phone is equipped to download and handle cellular phone directories by downloading the mobile phone contacts via Bluetooth, and its phonebook is large enough to hold 6000 number entries. It can synchronize with up to four Bluetooth devices, and up to 12 cordless phones can be paired with the system. VTech’s phone also allows simultaneous connection over the landline and cellular connection. The phone costs $99.99, and each extra handset costs $19.99. Landline phones like this one may delay the demise of landlines, but unless something path-breaking happens, landline phones will eventually disappear.
