Samsung has made officiall the Samsung AMOLED 12M (model SCH-W880) mobile phone, the first ever mobile phone to get a camera with optical zoom. As is evident from the name, the phone gets a 12 megapixel camera with an optical zoom of up to 3x. The phone also includes a number of controls similar to those found in cameras, perhaps making it a “true” camera phone.
The phone has a 3.3-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen with 800×480 resolution, HD video recording (720p) at 30 frames per second. Other features included Touch AF (Auto Focus) which lets the user choose focus areas, and then the camera follows the focus object even if it is moving. The phone will first be made available in Korea this October.
