After Sprint and T-Mobile gave HTC TouchPro2 an insanely expensive $350 price tag for a two year contract, it was expected that Verizon and AT&T would follow suit with similar prices. AT&T is yet to announce its pricing for the mobile phone, but Verizon has announced its pricing and it is much better than what Sprint and T-Mobile had on offer.
Verizon will offer the phone for $200 on a contract (including mail-in rebate). This puts the Verizon model squarely at $150 less than what is on offer by other carriers, and at the same price as iPhone 3GS 16GB and the PalmPre; cost advantage of course is a big plus for the Verizon model.
The TouchPro2 runs on WinMobile 6.1, and has a 3.6-inch, 800×480 touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 megapixel camera, Verizon-native 3G over EVDO Revision A, GPS, Wi-Fi, 288MB of RAM and a 528MHz processor. Verizon will start taking orders for the phone Friday onwards.
