Nothing looks and sounds more pleasing than gadgets that promise higher network speeds, and if its routers that are causing speed trouble, Netgear has released what it calls the “ultimate networking machine,” the WNDR3700.

The RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router The router makes it possible to view any USB hard drive on the network through its ReadyShare feature, and those using broadband and subject to caps will find the broadband usage meter a handy tool.

Equipped with a 680MHz processor, it promises Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) support, 500 Mbps WAN to LAN speed, and 350 Mbps real-world maximum wireless throughput. Also on offer is WPA2-Enterprise encryption for added security, and adjustable power settings that make it more “economical” for the pocket and the environment.

The router has three adjustable power and range settings, it can reduce wireless transmit power and reach nearly a quarter of the power used as compared to the full power, and the auto-sensing “Green” switch for wired connections can adjust power to match cable length and unused ports.

The WNDR3700 offers a number of features over what more “conventional” routers offer, and it has a price that “goes over” with all these additions; the router will sell for $190.
